Sports massage applied professionally is the most effective therapy for releasing muscle tension and restoring muscle properties.
Received regularly, injuries can be prevented, and the constant build up of tension in the muscles from regular activity that may lead to stresses on joints, ligaments, tendons can be released.
Sports massage therapy can be used in the treatment of specific sporting injuries, such as hamstring strains, as well as to help correct muscle imbalances, overuse and postural issues. It can help prepare your body for optimal performance, recover after a big event, or function well during training.
However, you don't have to participate in sport to benefit from my Sports Massage. Sports massage is good for people with injuries, chronic pain or restricted range of motion.
My treatments can vary depending on the condition/injury of the client. However, all clients can expect:
Treatment can occur on the shoulders, upper back, lower back, bottom, upper leg, lower leg and feet, wherever you feel comfortable; but problem areas can be linked to other "tight spots" on the body.
Remedial massage, using ‘Advanced Soft Tissue Techniques’ (ASSTs), is a deep form of muscle-specific, problem-specific treatment, using a wide range of techniques aimed at positive change to the muscle, from superficial to deep.
It can be delivered generally, for an overall effect of relaxation/ restoration, or more specifically to address your particular needs, such as pain, tightness, impairment, etc.
Its aims and benefits can include effective:
Sports massage is used to benefit:
Regular massage treatment based on the therapist's understanding of anatomy and of the muscles used in a given sport and which are likely candidates for trouble. By concentrating on particular muscle groups, I can help you improve range of motion and muscle flexibility.
Pre-event and post-event massage therapies are tailored for distinct purposes.
Pre-event treatment is used on an athlete’s warm up to enhance circulation and reduce excess muscle and mental tension prior to competition. It is tailored to the needs of the athlete and his/her event.
Post-event massage, on the other hand is aimed towards reducing the muscle tension and metabolic build up that occur with rigorous exercise. Various sports massage techniques enhance the body's own recovery process improving the athlete’s ability to return to training and completion, reducing the risk of injury.
My massage therapy techniques can speed the healing and reduce the discomfort during the rehabilitation process. These soft tissue techniques are employed by myself to maintain both chronic and acute injuries.
In all cases, massage techniques are employed in collaboration with other appropriate medical care.
